Passion and experience are complemented by new marketing strategies. CEO Lucas Baumann faces new challenges as he leads the company into the digital age.

Marco Baumann (70) is retiring in August from operational management of Swiss cosmetics and pharmaceuticals company RAUSCH AG KREUZLINGEN. He is succeeded by his eldest son Lucas Baumann (37) who represents the fourth generation of this family-run firm. With a degree in business administration from Chur University of Applied Sciences, Lucas Baumann was Head of Marketing and Communications at RAUSCH from 2012. In 2015, he successfully managed the company’s product relaunch to celebrate its 125th anniversary. Marco Baumann remains active within the organisation as brand ambassador. He also continues as Chairman of the Board of Directors, on which his two sons Lucas and Tom Baumann also sit.
The family-run company stands for quality, competence, safety and efficacy. For Lucas Baumann, these strengths remain top priorities for RAUSCH as it continues to serve its loyal and enthusiastic customers. "Competence and herbal knowledge, experience and tradition meet new ideas and challenges. We are ready for the future, but without forgetting our past," says the new CEO.

RAUSCH remains "Swiss made"
Lucas Baumann is committed to the company's "Made in Switzerland" philosophy and will ensure that the supply chain stays based in Switzerland. Research, development, production, marketing and sales will remain in Kreuzlingen, where most of the 164-strong workforce are employed – and from where RAUSCH products are sold in 27 countries across the world. A network of retail sales partners provides customers with expert advice.
In the fiercely competitive cosmetics market, Lucas Baumann intends to differentiate his near-natural products even more clearly from other suppliers and to strengthen and expand the company with the implementation of new strategies.

Targeting the younger generation
He also aims to align the RAUSCH brand more closely with the requirements of younger target groups who want first-class, effective beauty care products that are in harmony with nature. Winning over young customers and convincing them of the "power of herbs" is part of his digital strategy, which is to be implemented at all key levels of the company. To ensure it is fit for the future, the company has again invested heavily in state-of-the-art machine technology with GMP certification (Good Manufacturing Practice).

Marco Baumann to become brand ambassador
"It gives me great pleasure to pass on the reins of our traditional company to the next generation, thus leading the RAUSCH brand into the future," says owner Marco Baumann who will represent the company in future as brand ambassador and develop contacts with customers in its export markets. He will perform his new role of promoting the effective use of herbs in beauty care products with engagement and passion and aims to pass on his love of Swiss herbs to the world.
In 1968, Marco Baumann joined the company owned by his father Josef Baumann-Widmer, who had taken it over from the heirs of the founder Josef Wilhelm Rausch. In 1974, RAUSCH was incorporated as a family-run public limited company. Marco Baumann led the firm together with his brother Dr J. Alexander Baumann up until the latter's retirement in 2006 and developed it into a successful medium-sized international enterprise.

Effective products with the power of herbs
RAUSCH is the leading Swiss manufacturer of high-quality herbal hair and bodycare products and has established itself as a niche player in this market segment. The range of products also includes medicinal products and food supplements. From its home in Kreuzlingen, the company can look back on 125 years of specialist expertise in the use of the right herbs in the right combination and in the right quantity as gentle-acting problem solvers. RAUSCH guarantees the maximum possible use of natural active ingredients that are carefully coordinated to each hair and skin type. The company itself manufactures the herbal extracts for its products in time-consuming, in-house processes that are both gentle and natural. The raw materials come primarily from certified producers in Switzerland.
