Amaranth | what is it?

The amaranth plant is indigenous to Mexico, Central and South America. It grows to three metres in height and oil is extracted from the seeds. The valuable active ingredients protect and have an anti-oxidative effect, thanks to unsaturated fatty acids.

Amaranth

The amaranth plant belongs to the Amaranthaceae family and comes originally from South America although it is now cultivated and used across the globe. Up to 150,000 seeds are formed on each plant at the flower stems. And it is from precisely these seeds that the high-quality oil for our Amaranth Repair Serum is extracted. The oil, which forms only 5‐6 % of the seed, is obtained using a gentle CO2 extraction technique (without the use of solvents). Amaranth oil is particularly valued for its high natural squalene content.
